Dear colleagues,
The International Society of Zoological Sciences (ISZS), in collaboration with the Zoological Society of Southern Africa (ZSSA), is pleased to make our THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT to invite you to attend the 23rd International Congress of Zoology (ICZ), to be held at the Century City Convention Center in Cape Town, South Africa from 19 - 24 July 2020.
The congress mark the first ever ICZ held on African soil in the 130-year history of this incredible zoological experience that first began in 1889 under the impetus of the Société Zoologique de France in Paris. The ICZ is now the premier event of the ISZS, the largest zoological community in the world with more than 1300 individual members and over 120 institutional members from all continents. The ZSSA was founded in 1959 and 2019 marks the celebration of its 60-year history of promoting and co-ordinating zoological research across all subdisciplines throughout southern Africa (http://www.zssa.co.za).
The theme of the congress is "Zoology in the Anthropocene: A Holistic Integrated Approach to Conservation", and will encourage discussions on emerging themes, future challenges and novel solutions in the zoological sciences, and its role in addressing pressing scientific questions, such as climate change and other global challenges in agriculture, health, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development that impacts society. The ICZ 2020 offers a unique platform for exchanging ideas and research findings, and for networking with zoologists from around the globe, and the incredible symposia, hands-on mini-workshops and post-congress training workshops will serve to enhance and stimulate cutting-edge, collaborative research, skills development and training on a diverse array of topics.
